The History of the Future shatters the space time continuum, challenging human life form to reconsider their concepts of time, space, existence and value.

The project begins with a wooden sculpture of a phaser rifle, a science fiction weapon, that is hand-carved in a technique that dates back to the 16th century. This object merges past and future into one unique symbolic form that defies function and familiarity.

It is then buried in an unknown location only to be revealed 100 years later.

The exhibition is a psychological excavation that probes the complex evolution of meaning as created by humans past, present and future. The installation includes a time-release safe that houses the coordinates of the lost artifact, molds, casts, and filmic documentation of the object and its burial. Drawings and collage, inspired by and taken from journal entries kept by the artists over the year-long development period give insight into the philosophies that enlighten this project.

Exhibition runs until September 22, 2012
