WANG SHUGANG
b. 1960, Beijing, China. Lives and works in Beijing, China. Wang Shugang is a Chinese contemporary artist who spent over 10 years developing his career in the Ruhr area of Germany before returning to Beijing. He is most famous for his famous sculpture “Meeting,” which features eight red men crouching in a circle. His work has earned him international recognition and is regularly exhibited in solo exhibitions in Germany, China, Switzerland and USA. His statues are almost exclusively stylized images of people in mainly three colors: red, white and bronze. His work revolves around the themes of isolation and loneliness, amongst others.
