10 Chancery Lane Gallery and the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association are delighted to present an Artist Talk with esteemed performance artist Xiao Lu, in conversation with writer and curator Yang Yeung, on the occasion of Xiao Lu’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong SKEW, held at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery. 

As China’s first female performance artist, Xiao Lu’s work represents issues concerning her generation of women in China. Her acclaimed experimental installation work “Dialogue”, exhibited at the National Art Museum of China’s 1989 China/Avant-Garde Exhibition, included an impromptu performance where she fired a handgun at her own installation. Xiao Lu will discuss her work and process as a performance artist in China and the deep meaning behind her works. 

The exhibition SKEW presents an important survey of some of Xiao Lu’s most iconic performances. The artist’s recent works explore ways to break through the uncertainty of individual challenges as well as the challenges of art in her life.
